We are made of stars!

As with most cultures, different meanings are ascribed to the skies by different Native clans. As oral traditions are verified and acknowledged as respected forms of documented history, stories are re-emerging. (Sadly, many are lost forever.) These stories are in line with historical events, helping to erase the idea that Indigenous people were primitive and rooted in superstition.

In re-examining Native star knowledge, it is quite clear the scientific method is wholly in place and giving important guidance (previously dismissed) on how seasons influence animal behavior, agriculture, etc. Through this influence, we undeniably see large problems emerge affecting the skies, land, water and living beings.

Several Native clans believe we descend from the stars in one form or another. As we now know, we are in fact made of the particulates from the galaxy. The most beautiful difference between the Native and Eurocentric perspectives is the ways in which Native star knowledge is rooted in the circular relationship with everything above and below.
